Team Fralock: Mick Hellman

Mick Hellman, 45, lives in Marin County, California with his wife Sabrina and their five lovely daughters.  An avid but mediocre ski racer during his high school years in Vermont, Mick began racing mountain bikes in 1997 and road bikes a few years later.  In 2005 Mick was champion for the National Mountain Bikes Series in the Expert 40-44 age group, Northern California/Nevada time trial champion in Masters 40+, and 3rd in the time trial National Championship for that age group.

So far in 2006 Mick has a second place finish in the Pro/1/2 class for the Northern California/Nevada time trial championship and won the Pro/1/2 class for the Steve Dunlap Memorial Time Trial; as well as the Masters 45+ class for McLane Pacific Road Race, Wente Road Race and Early Bird Road Race.

Mick’s proudest moment on a bike to date was winning the 2005 NMBS in the 40-44 class.  He had to race all over the country, in every type of condition, and never finished off the podium.

Mick got his first bike when he was 6, and he thinks it was a Stingray… but he won’t swear to it.
