Adhesive Bordered Foam Dressings

Adhesive Bordered Foam Dressings

There are a vast number of different Adhesive Bordered Foam absorbent dressings, mainly because one of the most difficult tasks in wound management is the containment of exudation. Different types of absorbent dressings act in different ways, for example, wounds may be flat or present as cavities that need to be lightly filled with an absorbent primary dressing and then covered with a further absorbent secondary dressing.

If the exudation is not contained within an absorbent dressing the moisture may cause skin maceration.  Adhesive bordered foam dressings absorb exudate — some lock fluid within the core of the dressing, others transform into a gelling foam. Most foam dressings are available in adhesive bordered or non-bordered formats.

Foam wound dressings are sheets and other shapes of foamed polymer solutions with small, open cells capable of holding fluids. They may be impregnated or layered in combination with other materials. Absorption capability depends on thickness and composition. The area in contact with the wound surface is non-adhesive
for easy removal, and is available with an adhesive border and/or a transparent film coating that acts as a bacterial barrier.

Foam dressings have proven to minimize patient pain and trauma to the wound and surrounding skin, they are designed to create an optimal healing environment.   These foam dressings can be changed without damaging the wound or surrounding skin or exposing the patient to additional pain.   The soft, conformable foam dressing maintains a moist wound environment, and effectively absorbs and retains exudates, which gives the wound an optimal environment to healing. A wide range of sizes makes Fralock the solution for small to large adhesive bordered foam dressings.

When off the shelf formulations are not the solution, let Fralock design and develop a custom alternative.

Adhesive Bordered Foam Dressing Applications
